By now, some of you may have heard of MBR rootkit. It’s just a new level of MBR malware. Before MBR rootkit, MBR viruses used to rule. Fast forward to the modern world, MBR rootkits rule.

According to Trend Micro, a new variation of MBR rootkit is out, to defeat anti-rootkit tools that detect it. It’s able to do it by replacing the section which anti-rootkit tools read with a wrong set of data. By doing so, it successfully escapes detection.
